Trump was not the first one to use a catering truck to board a plane

 President Trump used a catering truck to escape from Turkey in August 2026.

It reminded me of June 2014, when I/we also used a catering truck to board a plane in Turkey to return home.

We were visiting Van in eastern Turkey to visit the famous Van Cat Research Centre.  These cats are famous the world over for their pure white fur and one eye blue and the other amber.

It was there that my partner in crime had a mishap and broke her knee. An ambulance rushed us to a hospital where she underwent successful surgery.

We cancelled the rest of our planned itinerary and flew back to Toronto via Istanbul.

Van has a small airport. As her full leg was in a cast, she could not climb up the aero gangplank.

A quick-witted airline agent summoned the driver of the catering van, and he lifted us up to the plane.
