from a riedel or a paper bag

behind a driver or self driven
sleeping in a flat or a shack
smoking a cigarette or bedi
a pipe or a bubble pipe

this chasm of deliberate divide
caste, class, ethnicity, race
this divide of privilege
ordained by birth, fine tuned by fate
unwittingly, unwillingly embraced
finally crossed by the ethereal silence

a bullet
oh archduke ferdinand
a look - mata hari,
hunger - sub sahara
bridge this wide gulf
in a flash

then calm
lasting eternity

the irony
some deemed living
comprehend not bridges
of the riedel and the paper bag
