Fox's Bill O'Reilly making himself the story again - Chrish
The king of the FOX cult has made another spectacle of himself, this time drawing the attention of the Secret Service detail assigned to presidential candidate Barack Obama. Desperate to get Obama on his show, O'Reilly reportedly circumvented security barriers and attempted to physically relocate an Obama aide, Marvin Nicholson, who was blocking the FOX cameraman's shot.
The AP reports that O'Reilly defended his actions afterwards, saying "We're sorry we had to have that little confrontation, but no one on this earth is going to block a shot on "The O'Reilly Factor." It is not going to happen."
Buzzflash assessed it this way: "It's like O'Reilly is now openly working for the RNC dirty tricks division. He has lost all pretense of even appearing to be a respectable journalist."
Nicholson said he's "never seen a member of the press lay hands on a staffer before."
Crooks and Liars has video of Bill O's pre-emptive call into Fox News after the rally. "I gently had to remove him from that position. No scuffle, I just moved him from the spot.. I might have called him an SOB, that's possible, nothing more than that. No one on this earth is going block a shot on the O'Reilly Factor. It is not going to happen."
The story was originally broken by Lynn Sweet. The "No-spin Zone" should be in full tilt-a-whirl mode Monday, when we fully expect O'Reilly to brag about his boorish, self-important behavior. If he relly wants to set the record straight, no spin, tell us what really happened, show us the video. The FOX cameraman was right there; let us see and hear for ourselves. You know, you report, we decide...or is that just another empty slogan?
Obama did spend a moment with O'Reilly, who gushed and asked him again to come on his show - he needs the ratings, man! Pleeeease, dignify meeeee! Obama reportedly told him he'd think about it after the primaries.
