goodwin trail, lake ontario

cyclists and skateboarders
zooming past seniors 
walking with measured steps
boats cruising in the lake
speakers blaring out music
it is hot, hot hot
couples burning calories
on the moonlit deck
immersed in  musings
mind segues to far off places
where peace is phoenixian
where everyone is shackled
in hatred and intolerance
where death is (almost) a welcome option
a skater trips and i come back 
from rumination to the peace of the trail
