for a son/husband/father

with misty eyes and salutes

killed on duty in far off lands

killed by enemy fire

an enemy who felt

violated in his abode

the soldier and his comrades

descended uninvited

and killed unarmed civilians

filed under collateral deaths

brothers, sons and daughters

of the deceased in desperation

took up arms and waited

for an opportunity

to spread the shroud of death
