Everybody is Naked - Anjum Niaz

But the biggest mind boggler …gasp! is the statement from Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan immediately after Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry was restored. He advised the CJ not to reopen the NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) issue. Does that mean the Supreme Court will never challenge this ordinance that allows our politicians to keep their billions? Why did Aitzaz make this statement? Was it a pre-condition for the CJ's restoration? Was America involved in this 'deal'? Let's not forget that the NRO was drafted in Washington so that Benazir Bhutto could return to Pakistan. Mian Nawaz Sharif appears a party to this 'deal' because when asked about the NRO in Dubai recently, the PML-N leader fudged the question. It is seems obvious as daylight that Zardari agreed to reinstate the chief justice only if Nawaz guaranteed a constitutional cover to the NRO and the chief justice not reopening the Pandora's Box.

To allow one political party to play god with the destiny of 170 million Pakistanis, half of whom earn under $2 a day, is nothing less than criminal. Naming Asif Zardari, his bete noire Mumtaz Bhutto insists that "it must not be concealed that he was not acquitted either and he and his cohorts have been reprieved only by the unconstitutional and immoral NRO. Besides in public life it is what the people believe and the disgrace that matters, not conviction."Disgrace? Which world is Mumtaz Bhutto living in?
