Toronto 18: Skating on Thin Ice

Now that the trial details for the alleged "toronto18" are emerging, it is becoming clearer by the day that CSIS's (Canadian CIA) case ( based on the testimony of its former drug addict star witness and paid informer) based on flimsy evidence. The incarceration of the 18, mostly youth, in solitary confinement, torture - both physical and mental, the publication ban on the proceeding until now are increasingly seen as giving in to US pressure coupled with a latent desire to act like a Big Brother. Yes, we are also targets!

The trial underway is based on the testimony of a former drug addict and paid informer Mobin Shaikh who is enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame in the spotlight. It is becoming increasingly clear by the day that Canada's case is close to fabricated enticement and once the case winds down the government will be sued by the defendants and in addition to the pie in the face they will have to dish out millions for wrongful incarceration and more.

Here is Thomas Walkom on the coverage of the trial:

By, in effect, labelling its own star witness a liar, the government has delivered a devastating blow to its entire case in the so-called Toronto 18 terror plot. In a remarkable exchange yesterday at the Brampton courthouse, Crown prosecutor John Neander accused RCMP informer Mubin Shaikh of confecting evidence to protect the sole youth still facing charges in what the government calls Canada's first homegrown Islamist terror plot. and

In a stunning turn of events, a Crown prosecutor yesterday accused his star witness in the Toronto 18 terror case of fabricating some of the evidence about a so-called terrorist training camp.
