Baithak Desi Jun 19: Haqqani,The Concerted Silence, News & Views, Cartoons
Earlier I watched Kashif Abbasi interview Hussain Haqqani in DC. While it is true that Mr. Haqqani only works for himself, he threw too many "doosras" at Abbasi. At one point, Kashif, who is usually well prepared, was nonplussed and sheepish. Hussain Haqqani presented the case for US involvement in Pakistani Affairs so well that I feel like pointing him out to my Foggy Bottom friends to forward his name as their ambassador in Pakistan. He could do a better job than any of their recent appointees.
But it could be short tenure. Obama is not a neocon.

Somebody should ask these Pakistani patriots, politicians and stalwarts why are they silent so far? What is stopping their conscience (if they have or had one) from exposing the corruption? Do they not owe it to the people?
Also, I wonder, why do they draw a line at "exposing" Mr. Zardari? What about Mr Nawaz Sharif? What about more than half of the cabinet members of the precious administration?
Also, why spare the media? Why is it not raising these issues?

ISLAMABAD, June 18: The All Parties Democratic Movement has warned PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari of exposing what it called his corruption of billions of rupees if he failed to restore judiciary to its pre-emergency status.
The warning came as APDM leaders met here on Wednesday on the first day of a two-day meeting at the residence of Jamaat-i-Islami leader Mian Aslam.
They called for restoration of judiciary, release of the missing people, release of Dr Qadeer Khan, inquiry into the May 12 incident in Karachi, killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti and restoration of the Constitution to its pre-Oct 12, 1999, position.
More than 100 leaders of component parties attended the meeting.
