What Kind of a Democrat is Aitezaz Ahsan?

In a democracy, of the parliamentary form that Pakistan is aspiring and struggling for, the decision making rests with the elected parliamentarians. The people vote to elect their representative. Pakistan witnessed that recently. It is those representative who will decide how to deal with the issues facing Pakistan - in the Assembly.

Which brings us to this question: who is Aitezaz Ahsan to dictate?

"When I was kept under detention, some people came up to me and told that the government was ready to reinstate the deposed judges, barring four, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry. But I flatly refused to accept their offer. Then they extended the offer to reinstate all judges except Justice Chaudhry. But I replied that the restoration of the Chief Justice is a real issue," he maintained.

Is he an MNA? Is he an MPA?

His role was laudable in the defense of Iftikhar Chaudhry and the lawyers' movement.

But he should not forget that Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry is also a PCO I Justice, having taken oath under the first PCO. If anything THOSE judges that refused to take that oath should be first in line. His silence is deafening on that.
