this existential whirlpool

s: fathom not
the foggy outfield
would rather
taste your warmth
feel you
around, over, in
would rather be one
with you
or float away
unseen, unfelt
without

s: have heard this before
this persistent feeling
have heard this oft
lofty ideals
esoteric dreams
blending with secretions
--o heavenly sweat.
but today
these desultory delusions
win
the heart nor the mind

s: loud, distinct, resonating
i hear you --
will discuss another time
