 not cocooned: marooned

hermetic nor sequestered
from what goes around
the winds overwhelming
rudderless in mid-ocean
               all efforts
appear insignificant
marooned: exhausted
but not cocooned
the sliver of hope
still burns deep

to be content
even peaceful
despite troublesome
pangs of conscience
when the world around
    yours and mine
        is in turmoil
            is criminal
and am guilty
