How Obama Came to Plan for ‘Surge’ in Afghanistan

When the history of the Obama presidency is written, that day with the chart may prove to be a turning point, the moment a young commander in chief set in motion a high-stakes gamble to turn around a losing war. By moving the bell curve to the left, Mr. Obama decided to send 30,000 troops mostly in the next six months and then begin pulling them out a year after that, betting that a quick jolt of extra forces could knock the enemy back on its heels enough for the Afghans to take over the fight.

The three-month review that led to the escalate-then-exit strategy is a case study in decision making in the Obama White House — intense, methodical, rigorous, earnest and at times deeply frustrating for nearly all involved. It was a virtual seminar in Afghanistan and Pakistan, led by a president described by one participant as something “between a college professor and a gentle cross-examiner.”

Lets keep in mind that this info comes from the NY Times. They helped beat the drums for war. And also kept vital information from the public before the 2004 election.

This surge plan is an illusion. The time frame makes no sense. The objectives make no sense. They are still acting as if the West can solve the problems of the region. They can not. Col. Wilkerson gave a great interview on this. It is on Realnews TV or you can see it on my blogspot. IMO; This was planned by the Generals, The shadows,= [think tanks], the WAR contractors. Specifically i think it was Gates, Shillary, MC Chrystal, Patreus, ZBIG, and their minions that came up with this insanity. The [exit] part is absolute nonsense. It was thrown in at the last minute to placate the spineless Dems that are carrying the water to the trough of blood for the further war mongering. I can not explain to you how upset I have been about this. Yes, Obama called it the war of necessity. Yes he said he was going to escalate in AF/PAK before the election. But this was not the only option that he had. He bowed to the Generals, and to the MIC. He is now a WAR PRESIDENT.
