Will the real comics please stand up? Shandana Minhas

Shandana's comment would have had more resonance with me if she had mentioned the ongoing efforts of writer, artist, anwar maqsood, moin akhtar, younus butt and others...but...in general I agree with her:

So what is the remedy to this expressive impotence? How do we revive in people the appreciation of and demand for the pleasures of language? Humour is one shortcut. We Pakistanis are- at the best of times- warm, funny, expressive people. We have the ability to laugh at ourselves and have in the past used it to rise above tragic circumstances. But lately we have begun to take ourselves too seriously. There are exceptions, of course, but there is still no substitute for the weekly dose of joy and release experienced after the exuberant, inventive antics of classic Fifty Fifty sketches or the razor-sharp social commentary of Kamal Ahmed Rizvi's Alif Noon.
