Small-town Sarah Palin gets a big city, big dollar makeover Reported by Chrish

As Sarah Palin goes around the country praising so-called small-town values, chiding Barack Obama's economic policy proposals, and pretending to sympathize with Joe the Plumber, check out the gal-next-door's duds. Seems Mrs. Just-like-you is sporting a new, $150,000 wardrobe, courtesy of her newfound pals at the RNC.

Amended 10/22 11a.m., below

According to reports, RNC expenses charged to a "new category of spending, 'campaign accessories,'” included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74, a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September, $4,716.49 on hair and makeup, $9,447.71 to Macy's in Minneapolis, and, presumably for Alaska's First Dude, $4,902.45 at Atelier, a high-class "shopping destination" for men.

She hasn't even made it to Washington yet (and stars willing she never will) but she's already embracing the elitist, out of touch ways of her owners bosses.

"Senator Obama was doing press interviews by telephone in a holding room between events. Sometime later as he was getting ready to begin his event, he asked me if I was photographing his shoes. When I said yes, he told me that he had already had them resoled once since he entered the race a year earlier. " Providence, R.I., 3/1/2008.
