Baithak Desi Jun 03: Flaying 160 Million, Ameer Mukhtar, Asif claims he was tipsy and had desi viagara, Headlines, Cartoons

Political leaders of all hues quote "sola crore" awam to support their hallucinations. The number 160 million is thrown without abandon by all small and big unelected leaders of every hue. The only quote that justified the use of the nation's population was Ayub Khan's immortal speech that began with "100 million Pakistanis...." Today's use of the number 160 million in speeches trivializes the issues and highlights the disconnect with reality of the person uttering that number. Here are some sobering thought by Ameer Mukhtar in the FP today.

According to the Pakistan Election Commission's 2007 electoral rolls, there were a total of 81 million registered voters in Pakistan, out of a total population of around 160 million. Of these 81 million voters, some 34.7 million voters cast their votes on February 18 this year. Voting results showed that the PPP had dominated, with nearly one in every three voters casting their vote for the party (10.6 million). The PMLQ took nearly 8 million votes, the PMLN 6.8 million, and the MQM about 2.5 million....On the basis of the numbers quoted above, some 42% of the electorate voted, with pro Musharraf parties taking 60% of votes cast, and anti-Musharraf parties the remaining 40%. Nonetheless, with the PMLQ unable to retain even half their seats in the national assembly, while several top leaders lost their seats, the results were interpreted as a heavy mandate against the presidency. Be that as it may, and despite the fact that media development had ensured that voters in the 2008 elections were the best informed compared to any previous elections, the fact remains that 46 million registered voters were not motivated enough to voice their opinions, and 20 million of those who did vote, voted for parties that were either implicitly or explicitly pro Musharraf; about 15 million voted for anti Musharraf parties. Election mandate and lawyers movement myth

Asif claimed he was a bit drunk and got into an argument with airport officials which led to a brawl and he slapped one of them. The channel said the pacer had told them that the authorities recovered a small quantity of "Shilajit", an ayurvedic medicine for boosting strength, in his wallet and charged him with possession of opium. I have been implicated, claims Asif
