Baithak World May 10: Nargis, M F Hussain, Headlines, Starbucks, Palestinian Spirit, RealNews

The spectacle is deeply disturbing. The junta is not extending a helping hand to its own citizens. And worse! It is creating obstacles for those who want to help. Compare the military junta in Mynamar/Burma with the GoP and the earthquake in the north western parts of the country. In that instance, the people and the government became one in the face of adversity. Reading about the numbers of dead escalate, houses and buildings demolished, the k(h)akistocracy is going ahead with the referendum. What a imbecilic world we live in!

MF Husain
This is not the first time Mr Husain's work has caused controversy

A court in the India has dropped legal proceedings in three cases against one of the country's best-known and controversial artists.

MF Husain has been accused of obscenity in at least seven cases filed against him in a number of Indian states.

He is alleged to have offended Hindus with a painting in which he represented India as a nude goddess.

In dropping criminal proceedings against the painter, the Delhi court said the painting was not obscene.

Under Indian laws, obscenity is a criminal offence. Indian painter work 'not obscene'

and:Husain remains non-committal on ending self-exile

Poem: Palestinian Spirit

By Katherine Mukhar

(Dedicated to the Palestinians in their continual fight for freedom)

Vultures swoop above
While I, their future prey,
Must stand alone
Beneath the sun
To face my death
Without an ounce of fear.
I will not succumb
To what the hawks have
Deemed to be my fate.
Stripped of all I own
I stand with
Dignity…
Pride.

Force me on my knees…
I will stand again!
Strangle me with all your might…
I will breathe again!
Bulldoze what I built…
I will build again!
Try to kill my soul
But it will live again!

Remember this:
Go tell your sons
Each time I die
My passion will rekindle
In the children
Of my daughters
And my sons.

And don't forget to tell them
Each time you killed me…

I died standing!
