Aaj Kamran Khan Ke Saath

In the just concluded programme, anchor Kamran Khan talked about load shedding in Karachi and how in some areas there is no electricity for 8 hours and in other areas for 12 hours. He ended the show with these words: "Karachi maiN bijli ka bohraan, kahiN yeh koi saazish tou nahiNn hay?" (Is the electricity shortage in Karachi a deliberate provocation?)

I am incensed.

Admittedly, Karachite suffer from the load shedding. But Kamran should also know basic arithmetic. In the absence of any new dams or power generating plants, there is a ever increasing gap between generation and consumption in the whole country.

By throwing around words carelessly he is showing himself to be either a tool or a fool. I do apologise for using these words Kamran, but I know you are a decent person. As an anchor with reach you should be extra careful in selecting your words.

Uttering words and sentences so carelessly does not behoove an experienced journalist. Please do what is right with this concluding remark of yours. They heighten tension and rift in an already volatile environment.

[I don't have his email address. If someone can forward this to him I will be grateful.]

With news channels cropping up left, right and center, there's all sorts of shit being spewed by "anchors" and "hosts" of countless programs. But it is indeed inane, like you said, for someone as experienced as Kamran Khan in engage is such foolish speculation on live television.
