Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

I have difficulty understanding Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He appears to have an speech impediment. While googling information about his affliction this is what one learns:

He will be 61 come January. He is the son of a former police constable turned businessman Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi. He has interests in industrial units in textiles, sugar and flour milling.

And I came across this unattributed gem from wikipedia:

Chaudhry was involved in the Cooperative Socities (sic) scandal where over $1 billion were looted from investors. Chaudhry has pending criminal charges from said scandal.

Chaudhry Shujaat entered politics after his father was assassinated on September 25, 1981 - allegedly by political opponents of Al Zulifiqar a terrorist group run allegedly by Murtaza Bhutto son of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

I mentioned earlier I was trying to find out about his affliction.

As a former Prime Minister, as head of PML (Q), as a trusted Musharraf aid Chaudhry Sahib is seen on the electronic media all over Pakistan. Seen, but not heard.

His words run into each other and form an undecipherable puddle at his feet. I have almost given up making sense of what he says. Instead I watch the expressions on the face of the reporter or the interviewer.

How they nod, agree, disagree, move on to the next question as if they have understood him. This I find more educating and entertaining.

It is sad to see them amuse themselves at the expense of this person's pathetic affliction.

Perhaps, in this month of Ramazaan, one of you can start a Charity that will help put subtitles on telecasts. If the electronic media has to show Mr. Hussain they might as well offer subtitles in Urdu or English so the viewer can see and hear him also.

Disclaimer: I have nothing personal, for or against Mr Chadhry Shujaat Hussain

salamz,

I am not fan of Chaudhry sahib and his fellow lotas but I think you should be ashamed of yourself of picking on and making fun of a man's speach impediment, which is certainly due to health reasons. No matter which side of the political landscape one is on, such sleezy remarks should not be made nor tolerated. Personal dignity and respect are key to civilized discourse. Unfortunately this is an area where we fall short many a times.

Shame.

thank you for your comments. let me post here the first sentence and the last disclaimer that you may have perhaps overlooked:

"I have difficulty understanding Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He appears to have an speech impediment.

Disclaimer: I have nothing personal, for or against Mr Chadhry Shujaat Hussain"

____________

I do understand that he has some speech impediments. That there is no information available on it in the public domain notwithstanding.

My point is simply this. A person who is in the limelight should be heard...whether he/she communicates effectively is a different issue...and sadly I have heard him on many an occasion and have even asked the company present to decipher his speech - all in vain.

So sir, speech impediments aside what is the point of appearing on the electronic media?
