How to Get Published
This is a tricky question with a shorter answer. You should probably try to start small, by publishing your smaller, better pieces. Thank God for the Web, because you can submit your essay or short story to any number of Web sites devoted to writing and get lots of good feedback on your work, as well as a sense of accomplishment when you start to get published on the Internet.
You should also try seeing your work come out in hard copy. Consider contributing to your local newspaper or magazine. For the most part, publications are always looking for new material and new writers. Print or e-mail your very best work, along with a cover letter or note of introduction, to the features editor or assistant editor of any reputable magazine or newspaper (editors are often too busy to look at new submissions). If your work is good, they will get back to you and it can be the start of a beautiful working relationship.
Finally, if you've got a manuscript and want to try getting it published, there are some publishing houses in Pakistan that are always on the lookout for new authors. Go to their Web sites and look up information about submissions, follow their instructions, and give it your best shot. There's no reason why you too can't hope to see your work in print some day in the future. Now just give me 10% of your earnings for all this useful information and we'll call it even. :)
